On behalf of Motherwell Diocese I extend our sympathy to all in the Archdiocese of Glasgow on death of Archbishop Emeritus Mario Conti – may he rest in peace.
Our sympathy extends to his family and friends across the Church in Scotland and beyond, recognising his years of dedicated service as a priest and then Bishop of Aberdeen Diocese before his appointment to Glasgow. He was a Bishop for 45 years and continued to participate publicly in the Church’s life and worship to the end of his earthly journey.
We last saw him in Motherwell at the National Pilgrimage in honour of St Bernadette at the end of September.
We thank God for his life and faithful witness, trusting he will now enjoy the joy of eternal life in Christ
Our Lord. Our Lady of Aberdeen, St Mungo, and Blessed John Duns Scotus pray for him.
+ Joseph Toal
Bishop of Motherwell.
