The annual Mass of Chrism will take place on Holy Thursday at 11.30am in Motherwell Cathedral. During this Mass the Holy Oils to be used in our Churches for the celebration of the sacraments this year will be blessed, and the Priests of the Diocese will renew their priestly promises. Everyone is most welcome - and encouraged - to attend.
It will also soon be the 75th Anniversary of our Diocese. The Dioceses of Motherwell and Paisley were erected as Suffragan Sees of the Archdiocese of Glasgow by the Apostolic Constitution 'Maxime Interest' of 25th May 1947. As the Mass of Chrism is the major gathering of the Diocese each year, it is opportune to give thanks for these 75 years and ask the Lord to continue to anoint our diocesan family in the years ahead.
