Prayers as Fr Towey Retires

Today sees the retirement of Father Dominic Towey, Parish Priest of St John the Baptist's Uddingston. After 52 years of active ministry, the last 17 spent in Uddingston, Fr Towey is the last of the many Irish parish priests to serve our Diocese. He will now move into residence in St Augustine's Parish Coatbridge with Fr Michael Kane and will be succeeded in Uddingston by Father Ivan Boyle, current Parish Priest of St Vincent de Paul's East Kilbride while Fr Romanus will take up appointment as Administrator of St Vincent's Parish. We offer our prayers and best wishes to Fr Towey, wishing him a long, happy and healthy retirement.

Fr Owen Ness also stands down this week as Administrator of St Brendan's Motherwell and will be succeed by Fr Kieran Hamilton. We offer our prayers and best wishes to Fr Ness and thank him for his ministry in the Diocese.

We also continue to pray for all the priests taking up new appointments this week.
